PALM HARBOR, FL : 57-year-old motorcyclist killed in U.S. 19 crash on Sunday, 9th April 2018

The Florida Highway Patrol has identified a woman who was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday night on U.S. 19.

Kathleen Ritz, 57, of New Port Richey, was headed north in the inside lane of U.S. 19 toward Alderman Road when troopers said her motorcycle collided with the back of a 2016 Mercedes E350 that was stopped at a green light. The Mercedes was driven by Christine Hughes, 48, of Palm Harbor.

Ritz was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the center lane, where she was then struck by a 2017 Hyundai Elantra driven by Patrick Sutton, 49, of Tarpon Springs.

Ritz died at the scene of the crash from her injuries, according to the FHP. She was not wearing a helmet. Troopers do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Charges may be pending in this case.
