Gainesville, FL : 2 men flee after woman killed in crash in North Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2016

Jacksonville police were searching for two men who ran away from a rented Jeep Cherokee after it crashed into a Chrysler PT Cruiser, killing the woman driving that vehicle Sunday afternoon in North Jacksonville.

The victim, whose name wasn’t released, died at UF Health Jacksonville following the crash shortly before 1 p.m. at Drury Lane and Gillespie Avenue, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the Jeep was traveling east on Drury Lane when it ran the stop sign and collided with the driver’s side of the PT Cruiser, which was northbound on Gillespie Avenue. Two men bailed out of the Jeep and fled before police arrived. Officers were searching the area for the men, but no arrests were reported by nightfall.
