Yakima County , WA : Six People injured in crash after driver started to veer off the road and rolling the car and landing in a ditch on Friday , February 13th 2015

State troopers believe a teenager had been drinking before getting behind the wheel of a pick-up full of teenagers. The truck wrecked on North Wenas Road and six people went to the hospital. Those who live on North Wenas Road say that corner can be dangerous to any driver, but the crash early Friday still caught Renee Eandi by surprise.

"I just saw all the red and blue flashing lights, looked out my bedroom window and there was more than 11 cop cars here," Eandi said.

Eandi saw the aftermath of a truck rolling off the road with six young people inside. They ranged from 15 to 20 years old. Washington State Patrol believes the 18-year-old driver had been drinking and may have just left a party a short distance away. Troopers say the driver started to veer off the road and did a sharp overcorrection, rolling the car and landing in a ditch.

A 15-year-old was in the bed of the truck and thrown out. He was taken to a Seattle trauma center with the most serious injuries of all the victims.

"It could just be luck that he wasn't killed or somebody wasn't killed," said WSP Sgt. Patrick Ditter. "Who wants to take that chance?"

All six teens were taken to the hospital. Most were released hours later. The two minors still being treated are expected to be okay.

"That's surprising, very surprising, especially if she rolled the truck down that embankment through that fence," said Pamela Covey who lives nearby. "I'm surprised there weren't more hurt."

The 18-year-old behind the wheel is being charged with vehicular assault. Troopers say her blood work will come back within a few months to determine if she had been drinking. WSP says it was legal for the teenager to be in the bed of the pick-up truck. It's allowed in the state if all seats in the truck are full.
