Portland, ME : One person serious injured in a crash involving a car and a telephone pole on Congress Street on Saturday, December 26, 2015

Police are on the scene of a crash involving a car and a telephone pole on Congress Street.

Officials said the crash was reported around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officials said Lowell Harmon, 19, of Westbrook, was driving a Volvo sedan when the car left the road and hit the pole. Harmon and his passenger, Alexis Ferguson, 20, of Westbrook, were taken to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.

Congress Street was closed between Johnson Road and the entrance to the Portland Jetport. Traffic entering and leaving the Jetport was not affected.

Central Maine Power has not reported any power outages as a result of this crash.

Portland police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them.
