THOMSON, IL : A 24-year-old Thomson man is dead on Saturday, July 1, 2017

A 24-year-old Thomson man is dead as the result of a crash Saturday night on Illinois 84 between Thomson and Savanna, Ill.

Tobias Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Illinois 84 and Three Mile Road, which is north of Thomson.

The crash involved three vehicles. According to a press release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Johnson was southbound on Illinois 84, passing several vehicles, when he collided with a northbound car that was turning left onto Three Mile Road. That car was driven by Nancy Sweitzer, 64, of Milledgeville, Ill.

Johnson was ejected upon impact and then struck a northbound vehicle driven by John Disher, 51 of Savanna.

Sweitzer and Disher were transported to Mercy North Hospital in Clinton by Savanna and Thomson ambulances.

The crash remains under investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and the Carroll County Coroner's Office. Assisting at the scene were Savanna police, Thomson police, Thomson's fire department and ambulance service and the Savanna Ambulance Service.
