Roanoke, VA : 16-year-old boy dead in single-vehicle crash in Franklin County on Saturday, 1st October 2016
A 16-year-old boy died in a single-vehicle crash on Virginia 607 in Franklin County on Saturday afternoon, state police said.
A 1999 Ford Ranger was northbound on Virginia 607, south of Virginia 761 near Ferrum, when it ran off the right side of the road, lost control and struck a tree at 12:57 p.m., Sgt. Rick Garletts said.
The driver, Joshua Lee Hodges, of Henry County, died at the scene. He was wearing his seat belt.
A preliminary investigation by state police indicates speed may have been a contributing factor, Garletts said.
