Roseburg ,OR : Two Roseburg residents die in single car crash on Oregon 138 on Wednesday night ,June 24th 2015

Two Roseburg residents were killed late Wednesday night when their Volkswagen Beetle left the highway east of Roseburg and crashed into an embankment.

Lt. Bill Fugate, a spokesman for the Oregon State Police, said Danica Schnaible, 18, was driving westbound on Oregon 138 when for an unknown reason her car crossed the center line and crashed into an embankment on the south side of the highway.

A passenger, 21-year-old Kiona Sewell also died at the scene of the 11:19 p.m. crash.

An investigation was conducted by OSP with assistance of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the Oregon Department of Transportation and Fire District No. 2.

The highway was closed for approximately four hours in both directions during the investigation, and traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction Thursday morning to complete the investigation, ODOT officials said.
