STRATFORD, CT : One person was injured after two personal watercraft collided on Saturday, August 19, 2017
At least one person was injured after two personal watercraft collided on the Housatonic River Saturday evening.
The crash took place around 6 p.m., near the Igor I. Sikorsky Memorial Bridge, said Nick Verdicchio, public information officer for the Shelton Fire Department, which responded to the crash, as officers were on the water training at the time of the accident. Verdicchio said, when the watercraft crashed into each other, the operator of one of the machines fell off and was injured. The other operator reportedly fled the scene.
Verdicchio said the injured operator, a man, was taken off the water and eventually transported to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He said the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Coast Guard were both notified about the accident.
