Seneca, KS : Woman died in a vehicle crash on US-36 in Nemaha County on Thursday morning, January 7, 2016
A woman died in a vehicle crash about four miles south of Sabetha, in Nemaha County, on Thursday morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol’s crash log identified the woman as 37-year-old Rebecca Crismas, of Wetmore.
Wayne Mowery, 63, of LaCygne, was driving a semitrailer westbound on US-36 Highway at West Road when Crismas, driving a 2004 Chevrolet van, failed to yield at a stop sign at West Road, according to the patrol. Mowery was transported to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. He was wearing his seat belt.
The three passengers in the van, ages 11, 3 and 1, were injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment. All of the occupants of the van were wearing seat belts, the log indicated. The crash occurred about 8:25 a.m.
Eastbound and westbound traffic on US-36 was closed from 9 a.m. until 3:15 p.m., said Kimberly Qualls, public affairs manager with the Kansas Department of Transportation.
