Wilsonville, OR : One dead in single-car crash on I-5 north of Woodburn on Friday, July 25, 2014

A person was killed Friday in a single-car crash on Interstate 5 about three miles south of Wilsonville, Oregon State Police said.

State police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings said for an unknown reason, the driver of a car went off the right shoulder of the northbound lane and drove for 200 feet in grass before smashing into a tree head-on.

The inside of the car caught fire, he said.

The crash happened just before noon.

The person died at the scene. Hastings said the sex of the person is not known at this time.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and Hastings said there are still traffic delays at the scene.
