Quincy,IL : Bowling Green teen dies in Lincoln County crash on August, Saturday 19th 2017

A Bowling Green teen died and two others were injured in a Saturday night crash in Lincoln County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Jeffery W. Holden, 32, of Bowling Green was eastbound on Route V, east of Henry Harris Lane, at 10:58 p.m. The patrol said the vehicle was traveling too fast to negotiate a curve in the roadway, lost control, traveled off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail and traveled down an embankment.

A passenger in the vehicle, Nicholas L. Spencer, 18, of Bowling Green was taken by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital St. Louis where he died at 12:26 a.m. Holden was transported by Lincoln County Ambulance to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital St. Charles with serious injuries, and a second passenger James S. Ortega, 17, of Bowling Green, was taken by Lincoln County EMS to Mercy Hospital Lincoln with minor injuries.

The patrol said Ortega was wearing a seat belt, and Holden and Spencer were not.
