OVERTON, NE : Woman killed in I-80 accident near Overton on Tuesday, November, 28th 2017
The Nebraska State Patrol has identified a woman who died in a car accident on Interstate 80 near Overton Tuesday.
According to a State Patrol representative, the passenger in the vehicle, Linda Hafner, 58, of Tea, S.D., died as a result of the one-vehicle accident two miles east of Overton. The accident was reported at about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday.
The driver of the vehicle, Daniel Hafner, 63, of Tea was transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. According to a CHI representative, he is in fair condition today.
The accident happened as Daniel was driving eastbound on Interstate 80. His vehicle entered the median, he over-corrected and the vehicle collided with a guardrail, went back into the median and then rolled, according to the State Patrol.
The Hafners were wearing seat belts.
The accident was investigated by the State Patrol. It was assisted by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to police radio traffic, CHI Health Good Samaritan Emergency Services, Overton Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Elm Creek Volunteer Fire and Rescue were called to the accident.
