Two injured in head-on collision on SR-82

Two drivers were taken to the hospital after a serious crash in the Gateway area of Lee County Friday morning.

Deputies say the crash happened after a black car heading east on SR-82 veered into the westbound lanes and hit a red car.

The female driver of the red car suffered serious bodily injuries. She was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.

The male driver of the black car was also transported to Lee Memorial Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. Deputies say he will be cited.

Both lanes of SR-82 between Gregory Avenue and Griffin Drive were closed while deputies investigated. All lanes have reopened.
