Monroe, NC : Three-year-old girl killed in ATV accident in Union County on Monday, April 18, 2016

A three-year-old girl who died after falling off of an ATV in Union County Monday has been identified as Ana Huntley.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. on the 3600 block of Brief Road in Monroe. Deputies said Huntley was riding on the back of the ATV with her older sister and fell off the vehicle when they hit a bump.

The three-year-old struck her head and went to an area hospital. Officials confirmed Huntley died just after 8 p.m.

Investigators said the ATV the sisters were riding was a Kawasaki Mule, which has a cargo area in the back.

Tony Underwood with the Union County Sheriff's Office said the incident was "an unfortunate tragedy." Underwood released the girl's name Tuesday afternoon. He says at this time, that is the only additional information they are giving out.

There is no word if any charges are being filed.
