Hilo ,HI : Officer Crashed and smashed into the driver's side of a Toyota 4Runner at the intersection of Makaala Street on Sunday evening ,April 12th 2015

Witnesses say an officer did not have his lights or sirens on when he sped through a red light and smashed into the driver's side of a Toyota 4Runner at the intersection of Makaala Street and Kanoelehua Avenue in Hilo.
Leihulu Harris Jr. was waiting to turn left at the intersection when the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m.

"The four runner had the green light at the moment, and then out of no where this cop or officer flew right past at at least 60 miles an hour, hitting the 4Runner" said Harris Jr.

Harris Jr. says the officer got out of his black Chevy Camaro to check on the woman of the impacted 4Runner, and then turned on his lights.

"I don't know if he put his lights on for a safety precaution.... he did not have his lights on when he impacted the car and when he went through the red light" said Harris.
