Fort Myers ,Fl : 39- Years old John G. McLane killed in Motorcycle Crash along the northbound span of the Caloosahatchee Bridge on Sunday , April 12th 2015

A motorcyclist died Sunday after a crash on the northbound span of the Caloosahatchee Bridge.

The crash happened around 6:26 p.m.

The driver was heading to North Fort Myers when witnesses say he was hit by another vehicle.

The motorcyclist, identified as John G. McLane, 39, of North Fort Myers, was thrown off his bike, over the bridge and landed on a car trying to park in Centennial Park. He died at the scene.

We are told by a Lee County School District spokesperson that McLane was the Building Supervisor at Franklin Park Elementary School and that he was very loved.

After the crash we spoke with a witness, Carlos Bernard, who said: "I was one of the first ones to get there and I picked up the shoe that was in the middle and I brought it over and then the lady wanted to touch him and I said don't touch him, don't touch him,"

The northbound span of the Caloosahatchee Bridge was shut down while police investigated the incident.
