ORINDA, CA : Three men killed in Highway 24 crash on Saturday, 7th December, 2019

Two Oakland residents and a Hayward man were identified by the the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office on Monday as the three men killed early Saturday when the car they were in veered off Highway 24 and crashed into a tree.

They were identified as Mauni Pahulu, 22, and Molomona Eteaki, 31, of Oakland, and Sione Vaitafa, 22, of Hayward.

There were unconfirmed reports the three men were cousins and were returning from a Concord church event.

The crash happened about 3:07 a.m. Saturday on westbound Highway 24 east of Camino Pablo.

The California Highway Patrol said the men were in a 2009 red Nissan Versa that left the road, went onto a hillside and crashed into a tree before coming to rest.

The three men were pronounced dead at the scene.
