ANDERSON, SC : Anderson Co. deputy charged after Upstate woman injured in crash on Wednesday, 19th October 2016
An Anderson County deputy was charged with a traffic violation after an Upstate woman was injured in a crash Wednesday night.
The crash happened around 10:39 p.m. on Masters Blvd and US Highway 29.
Injuries were reported in the incident, and dispatchers confirmed that an Anderson County deputy was involved in the crash.
Witnesses said a life flight was on the scene as well as several officers, Highway Patrol troopers and ambulances.
Troopers said an Anderson County deputy was traveling west on Masters Blvd in Chevy Tahoe as a 23-year-old female driver was traveling east in a Honda on the same road when the deputy crossed over the center line and struck the Honda.
The female driver was not wearing a seatbelt during the incident and became trapped in the vehicle. She was flown by helicopter to Greenville Memorial Hospital. The deputy was wearing a seatbelt and was transported by EMS to AnMed for treatment following the collision.
The deputy was charged with driving too fast for conditions, and was released from the hospital Thursday morning and is okay.
There is no word on the condition of the female driver injured during the crash at this time.
