Head-on crash injures three near Hill City


Icy road conditions were noted in a head-on crash near Hill City that left three with non life-threatening injuries.

The crash was reported at 2:21 p.m. Thursday on Highway 169.

Anita Conrad, 57, Grand Rapids, was driving north, the Minnesota State Patrol reported, when the vehicle went onto the shoulder, caught the road lip and lost control. Conrad’s Kia Sorento crossed into the southbound lanes and struck the oncoming vehicle. A passenger in Conrad’s car, Roger Conrad, 71, Grand Rapids, was also injured. The driver of the southbound Ford pickup, Sarah Holmbeck, 30, Deer River, was injured. All three were wearing their seat belts. All three were transported to the hospital in Grand Rapids. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were towed from the scene.

The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Department and Hill City Police assisted at the scene.
