Bismarck, ND : VC woman hurt in debris crash on Monday, October, 23rd 2017
A Valley City woman received minor injuries Monday after striking debris on Interstate 94 in Cass County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 4:50 p.m., when Margie Carlson, 39, of Valley City, was driving west in a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox when she encountered a large piece of debris. She was unable to maneuver because of other traffic and struck the debris attempting to swerve toward the median and lost control of the vehicle, the patrol said.
The Chevrolet struck a guard rail on the Maple River bridge and rolled onto its driver's side, the patrol said.
Carlson was able to extricate herself from the vehicle. She was transported after the crash by personal vehicle for medical treatment of minor injuries, the patrol said.
Carlson was wearing a seat belt and an airbag was deployed.
The debris was a 12- to 14-foot aluminum step with fiberglass paneling from the side of a semi tractor, most likely the driver’s side, the patrol said. The fiberglass was a light, mint green color with a thin darker green pinstripe down the center of the fiberglass.
The crash is under investigation. Anyone with additional information about the debris should call (701) 328-1081.
Casselton Ambulance Service, Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Casselton Fire Department also responded to the scene.
