Chester Twp, OH : Drunken golf cart driver kills passenger in Ohio crash on Saturday morning, August 30, 2014
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a deadly crash involving an E-Z Go Golf car. The accident happened Saturday morning at about 1:15 a.m. in Chester Township on Lehr Road.
Craig Franks, 42, of Wooster was driving the golf car when he drove the car left of center and then off the left side of the road. The car then went over an embankment and overturned.
Robert Moore, 49, and Vicky White, 47, both of Jeromesville were passengers in the car. All passengers were ejected from the golf car.
Moore who was the front seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Franks and White were transported to Wooster Community Hospital by EMS with no life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say Franks was operating the golf car at an unsafe speed which caused the crash. Alcohol was also found to be a factor. He was charged with OVI, unsafe speed for conditions and for failure to maintain reasonable control. Franks also faces other charges pending results of the blood alcohol test.
