Alexandria, LA : 2 Avoyelles men die in fiery crash on Monday, November 14th 2016
Two Avoyelles Parish men died in a fiery two-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon, according to Louisiana State Police.
The wreck happened around 2:50 p.m. on La. Highway 29 between Cottonport and Evergreen. The release states that Michael F. Isles Jr., 26, was driving a 2004 Dodge pickup truck southbound when he lost control and crossed the center line, hitting a 2005 Dodge pickup truck head-on.
That Dodge was driven by Leon Johnson Jr., 42, of Marksville.
"After the collision, the 2004 Dodge came to rest in the roadway while the 2005 Dodge came to rest off the roadway and became engulfed in flames," it reads. "Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and were pronounced dead on the scene."
Isles, a Cottonport resident, was not wearing a seat belt. It's unknown if Johnson was wearing his, according to the release.
The crash remains under investigation. Toxicology tests from both drivers are pending, it reads.
