Authorities say a Grand Island man was killed when his car collided with a sport utility vehicle on an icy highway in Hall County.
The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. Thursday on Nebraska Highway 2, around four miles southeast of Cairo (KAY'-roh) in Hall County. The Sheriff's Department says 35-year-old Jeremiah Roberts, of Ravenna (ruh-VEH'-nuh), was headed east on Highway 2 when he lost control of his SUV on the slippery roadway and struck an oncoming car.
The car driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The department identified him as 43-year-old Leopoldo Martinez. His two passengers and Roberts were hospitalized.
