Bismarck, ND : Kinzler charged in car crash on Wednesday, March 22nd 2017
A Jamestown woman was charged in the Southeast District Court March after she allegedly struck a woman with a car and caused damage to a house.
Karen Kinzler, 58, 1212 8th Ave. SE, was charged with aggravated assault-domestic violence, reckless endangerment, both Class C felonies, and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor. She appeared before Judge Troy LeFevre and is free on a personal recognizance bond. No date has been set for a preliminary hearing/arraignment on the charges.
According to court documents, at about 9:51 p.m. on March 15, Kinzler allegedly struck a woman with a car in the driveway of a house in southwest Jamestown. The car also struck the house and broke a natural gas line, which required an evacuation of all the houses in a one-block area radius while the Jamestown Fire Department and Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. shut off the gas.Kinzler said in court documents that she thought she had the car in reverse when she accelerated and allegedly hit the woman and house.
The woman in the driveway who was injured in the incident exercised her rights under Marsy’s Law to not have her identity revealed. Court documents show she was taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center where her injuries were treated and she was released.
