This afternoon a Shelby police officer, killed in the line of duty, will be laid to rest. Officer Tim Brackeen was shot early Saturday morning while serving an arrest warrant in the area of Parkview Street.

Brackeen died from those injuries Monday morning at Carolinas Medical Center, in Charlotte.

Crowds have packed memorials held Wednesday and Thursday nights to honor Brackeen at Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby.

Officer Tim Brackeen's life will be celebrated when he is laid to rest in Shelby. We know Governor Pat McCrory will be speaking at his funeral. There will also be an outpouring of support from people across the nation.

We'll be carrying the funeral service live on WBTV this afternoon at 3 p.m. You can watch on your TV or live stream if you're not at home at wbtv.com.

Have you seen that video of a Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools bus driver tailgating a vehicle and crossing the double center line in a CMS bus? Someone captured it all on a cellphone camera. We brought it to CMS's attention and will tell you why the punishment from the district is not sitting well with a lot of people.

WEATHER: We could use some rain to make up for a big deficit right now. Looks like it's probably not going to happen this weekend. WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin has the certified most accurate forecast. Make sure you're watching for his updates live every seven minutes.
