Rehoboth Beach, DE :Route 1 crash splits electric pole on Thursday, July 9th 2015
A crash on northbound Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach split an electrical pole and no one was injured in an earlier crash between 10:30 and 11 p.m. July 9.More than five vehicles were involved in two crashes just north of Route 24. No one was injured, on-scene police said.Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said the first crash involving four cars happened at about 10:30 p.m. with no known reported injuries.The second crash involved a 1998 Jeep Cherokee that ran off the road shortly after 11 p.m., hit a mailbox and then struck and damaged a telephone pole, he said.Lewes resident Lauren E. Banks, 27, was driving the Jeep and was cited for driving under the influence, driving while suspended or revoked and failure to remain within a single lane. Banks was uninjured in the collision.Two lanes of northbound Route 1 in the area of the electric pole were closed to traffic.
