The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol were involved in a high-speed pursuit that ended with a crash and three people in handcuffs.

On Sunday, at approximately 1 a.m., a Calaveras County deputy patrolling the Wallace area noticed a Ford Mustang swerving on the roadway as it traveled eastbound on Highway 12.

As the vehicle rolled to a stop, the deputy attempted a traffic stop, at which time; the suspect accelerated the vehicle and fled toward the Valley Springs area before circling back toward San Joaquin County via Highway 26.

A California Highway Patrol officer took over the pursuit, which ended in the Farmington area, after the vehicle crashed.

The vehicle matched the description of a car that was involved in a robbery in the Manteca area several hours prior. Several handguns were recovered from the vehicle.

The driver and passengers were taken into custody by CHP and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
