Center Point man dies four months after motorcycle crash in Birmingham
A Center Point man died Monday, four months after he was injured in a motorcycle accident.Alvin Eugene Demetrius Arnold, 43, died at his home, Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said today. Arnold had been injured in July in a crash in Birmingham.Yates said the crash happened about 1 a.m. July 21. Arnold was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling southbound on Ensley Five Points West Avenue.
A Honda Accord was traveling east on Avenue S when the driver attempted to turn left on to Ensley Five Points West Avenue. Arnold, authorities said, ran a traffic light and struck the Honda Accord.
Arnold remained hospitalized at UAB Hospital for three months, and finally was believed to be well enough to go home in October. His wife discovered him dead in his bed at 5:30 a.m. Monday. Yates said it appears Arnold died from complications from the crash.
