BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP, PA : A Columbus woman died following a two-vehicle crash on Saturday, June 17, 2017

A Columbus woman died Saturday following a two-vehicle crash in Lorain County, the state highway patrol said.

Kiara Stowers, 18, was severely injured in the crash that happened about 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Ohio routes 18 and 511 in Brighton Township, just west of Wellington, the Elyria post of the state highway patrol said in a news release. Stowers was taken to MetroHealth, where she died.

Stowers was the passenger in a 2013 Chevy Malibu driven by a 19-year-old man, the patrol said. The Malibu was headed north on Ohio Route 511 when the car's driver failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit on its passenger side by a 2004 Dodge Ram pick up truck.

The Malibu's driver was not injured in the crash. The truck's driver, a 34-year-old Norwalk man, was treated for minor injuries at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin, the patrol said.

Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
