A two-vehicle crash involving an Alexandria fire truck sent two firefighters to the hospital Monday afternoon.
At about 4:35 p.m., Joshua Hills, 38, of Alexandria was driving a 2017 GMC Sierra west on 50th Avenue when he entered the intersection with Highway 29 on a green light, according to the State Patrol accident report.
Joseph Waldorf, 46, was driving a fire truck, a Ford F350, with lights and sirens activated, south on Highway 29 and was going to a grass fire when he entered the intersection on a red light.
The GMC struck the driver's side door of the firetruck in the middle of the intersection, according to the report.
Waldorf and a passenger, Nathan Borden, 43, of Alexandria, who were both wearing seat belts, suffered non-life-threatening injures and were taken to Alomere Health. Waldorf has served 22 years with the Alexandria Fire Department and Borden has been a member since 2016.
Hills, who was also wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
