IRWINDALE, CA : One injured in Irwindale head-on crash on Monday, August 14, 2017
Police believe a driver suffered a stroke or some other medical condition before his car crossed into opposing lanes and crashed into a truck Monday.
Irwindale police Sgt. John Fraijo said the 73-year-old Pasadena man was incoherent after the crash. Paramedics took him to Methodist Hospital of Southern California.
The injury collision happened on Peck Road and Foothill Transit Way just after 10 a.m.
Fraijo said a car traveling south on Peck Road went over the center median, crossed into the northbound lanes and in the path of an oncoming box truck.
The truck turned right to avoid hitting the car, but the two crashed head-on.
Fraijo said the truck flipped on its side, hit a concrete pillar and an electrical pole. Debris from the pillar hit some cars parked on the Foothill Transit lot, according to the sergeant.
He said the 29-year-old man driving the truck wasn’t injured.
