The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as Christopher Garcia of Puyallup.
Garcia was driving a 1995 Nissan pickup west on Route 512 about 9:20 p.m. when he struck a disabled 1987 GMC dump truck just east of 31st Avenue.
Two men in the dump truck, a 19-year-old from Fircrest and an 18-year-old from Tacoma, were not injured. They both wore seat belts.
Garcia also was wearing a seat belt but died in the crash.
