Charleston,SC : Woman killed in single car crash on August, Wednesday 23rd 2017
Charleston, South Carolina
Investigators are unsure how long a woman sat dead in her car before being discovered Wednesday morning.
She was discovered in a crashed car at about 9:45 a.m. at South Lafayette Street near John Crawford Road, about a half mile from the South Carolina state line. Barely visible from the road, the driver of an 18-wheeler spotted the wreckage and called 911.
Brittany Pearl Wink, 20, of South Lafayette Street, Shelby, sat behind the wheel of a silver Toyota Camry down a steep ravine. Emergency workers pronounced her dead at the scene.
Wink was headed northbound, went off the road, hit several trees and came to rest down a deep ravine near the Bowens River, said N.C. State Trooper C.M. Latham.
“She was last seen on Sunday evening,” Latham said.
Latham said he believes Wink had been there for sometime, but could not speculate at how long.
