IBERVILLE PARISH, LA : Texas man killed in wreck on I-10 W near Grosse Tete on Thursday, 25th July 2019

One man is dead after a wreck involving four 18-wheelrs on I-10 W near Grosse Tete. The wreck happened Thursday, July 25 just after 8 a.m.
Louisiana State Police says the wreck claimed the life of Robert McCarty, 82, of Caldwell, Texas.
The initial investigation shows McCarty and another driver were involved in a wreck and stopped their 18-wheelers on the shoulder of I-10 W. While they were on the shoulder, Datril Dunbar, 35, of Sebring, Fla., was headed west on I-10 in an 18-wheeler behind another 18-wheeler. For reasons still under investigation, Dunbar hit the back of the 18-wheeler in front of him, then hit both stopped 18-wheelers on the shoulder.McCarty was standing outside his 18-wheeler on the shoulder when the impact happened and was pronounced dead on the scene. The other drivers involved were all wearing their seat belts and sustained minor to moderate injuries, LSP says. Officials do not expect impairment, but toxicology samples were taken from all drivers for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation. Charges could be pending, LSP says.
