Stroudsburg, PA : Delmar couple killed on a Pennsylvania highway when their car was crushed between two trucks on Saturday, November 22nd 2014
Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania
A Delmar couple driving to Wisconsin to visit family was killed on a Pennsylvania highway when their car was crushed between two trucks on Saturday.
Joann and Frank Brodzik took the southern route to Wisconsin because they thought it was safer to avoid the slippery roads in Western New York.
Police said the Brodziks' Volvo was caught between a fast-moving tractor trailer and a slow or stopped truck on Interstate 80 in Central Pennsylvania.
Police said the driver of the fast-moving Peterbilt tractor-trailer failed to notice traffic was stopping and couldn't avoid hitting the Brodziks' car.
The impact sent the couple's Volvo into the back of a Freightliner tractor-trailer.
Joann Brodzik, 59, and 64-year-old Frank Brodzik were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened about 10 miles from the exit for Penn State University.
Joann Brodzik was a student adviser at Hudson Valley Community in the department of automotive, manufacturing and electrical engineering technologies.
