Providence , RI : State Police investigate double-fatal crash in Fall River on Sunday, December 11th, 2016

Massachusetts State Police responded to a fatal crash on Route 24 northbound early Sunday morning involving 2 men from Providence.

Police say it was single-vehicle accident. The passengers were traveling in a 2003 Mercury northbound on Route 24 around 1:30 a.m. when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree near exit 8A. The reason for the crash is still under investigation.

The driver was a 36-year-old man from Providence RI, and the passenger was a 23-year-old, also from Providence. They were both pronounced dead at Charlton Hospital.

Police are not releasing the names of the victims, pending family notification. No further information is available.
