Xenia, IL : Two people injured after three vehicle crash west of Xenia on Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2016
A vehicle accident occurred on half mile west of Xenia Thursday afternoon that resulted in two injured being transferred to the hospital.
Illinois State Police respond that a 2003 Chevrolet van driven by Malorie Harris, 19 of Centralia, was traveling eastbound on Route 50 when she crossed over the center line and struck a 2000 Freightliner driven by James Brown, 59, of Wildersville, TN on the driver’s side door.
After striking the Freightliner, Harris’ van then struck the trailer of the semi and overturned on the shoulder of the roadway.
After the van struck the semi, one of the tires on the van came off and struck a 1991 Ford truck driven by Kiefer Shaw, 24, of Marion. Shaw was traveling behind the Harris vehicle at the time of the accident.
Harris was seriously injured and was life flighted from the scene by Air-Evac Helicopter to St. Louis University Hospital. A passenger in the Harris vehicle, Timothy Hayne, 25, of Olney, was transported to Clay County Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Harris was ticketed for Driving on Suspended License, No Insurance and Improper Lane Usage.
The accident scene was closed for approximately three hours while Clay County ESDA cleaned up the scene.
