PHOENIX, AZ : Deadly crash involving pedestrian shuts down busy Phoenix street on Friday, 20th September 2024

A deadly crash involving a pedestrian temporarily closed a busy street near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport early Friday morning.

Police have since identified the victim as 35-year-old Foster Williams.

Police say the collision was reported near 44th Street and Van Buren, just north of the airport, around 5 a.m. When officers arrived, they found Williams lying on the road, seriously injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe Williams was in the westbound lanes of Van Buren when he was struck by two vehicles. Both drivers remained on scene.

Van Buren Street from 40th to 44th Street was closed during the investigation.
