STROUD, OK : One person killed in crash on I-44 just east of Stroud on Wednesday, 18th July 2018

One person died Wednesday morning and several others were injured in a fiery crash on I-44 just east of Stroud.

Shortly after 12:40 a.m., a semi-truck was traveling east on I-44 near a construction zone when it hit a construction vehicle and the trailer entered the roadway, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials. The construction vehicle and semi-truck then caught fire, officials said.Two people in the construction vehicle were ejected, and the passenger died, according to Highway Patrol officials. The victim has been identified as a 20-year-old male, but authorities have not released his name.

Highway Patrol officials said the construction workers were contracted from out of state.
