Crawfordsville ,OR : 33-year-old man injured after deliberately crashed car with family inside and climbed tree on Friday ,May 15th 2015
A mental health evaluation has been ordered for a Linn County man who told deputies he deliberately crashed his SUV with his wife and 6-year-old boy inside — and then climbed 70-80 feet into a tree and refused for five hours to come down.
Sheriff Bruce Riley says nobody was seriously hurt early Friday. The wife and boy were treated at a hospital.
By midmorning, a mental health worker arrived and after an hour talked the man down.
Riley says family members told deputies the 33-year-old man suffers from what may be a bipolar disorder. Riley says he didn't offer a reason for the crash.
He was hospitalized in Corvallis.
The crash was in a field near Crawfordsville, an unincorporated community southeast of Albany along the Calapooia River.
