Ottawa Lake,MI : 2 motorcyclists critically injured in crash with teen driver on September, Saturday 16th 2017
Two people were hospitalized with critical injuries when they were hit by a car that attempted to pass another driver.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, the motorcycle was hit by a 17-year-old Marne resident driving a 2001 Chevy Blazer westbound on Arthur Street in Wright Township. The driver attempted to pass a "slow-moving" vehicle but did not see an eastbound motorcycle around 8:12 p.m. on Saturday.
A 48-year-old Comstock Park resident was driving the motorcycle, with a 43-year-old Wyoming resident riding behind in the passenger's seat.
While the motorcyclist tried to evade the vehicle, the teen driver attempted to avoid the pair by driving off the road. Police said the two vehicles collided near an intersection with 24th Avenue.
The Comstock Park resident was transported by Aero Med helicopter to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The 43-year-old passenger was taken to the same hospital by ambulance, and also sustained critical injuries.
Police said neither were wearing helmets. Names were not released, pending the notification of family members.
The 17-year-old motorist was uninjured.
The incident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
