Angola, IN : Man killed in Steuben County crash on Tuesday, December 27, 2016

A crash has left one man dead in Steuben County.

Police were called to a crash on County Road 400 South west of Meridian Road around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When Deputies arrived they found a pickup truck had crashed into a tree.

The driver, Charles Vilders, 57, Pleasant Lake, was pronounced dead. The county coroner said Vilders died of blunt force trauma.

Investigators said Vilders was west on 400 South when he went off the road and hit the tree. Vilders was not wearing his seat belt.

Police do not know if drug or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
