Whitestone, NY : A driver is dead after he crashed his car into an SUV at Oneida County On Saturday, July 16th, 2016
Authorities say a driver is dead after he crashed his car into an SUV in upstate New York and the car caught fire.
The crash happened at 7:20 a.m. Saturday in the town of Whitestone.
Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol says 47-year-old Kevin Gillece, of Scranton, Pennsylvania, was driving a Ford SUV south on Route 840.
The sheriff says a northbound Chevrolet Impala driven by 33-year-old Scott Rice, of West Winfield, crossed into the southbound lane and hit the SUV head on.
Rice’s car caught fire. Rice was pronounced dead at the scene. Gillece was taken to a hospital.
A motorcycle traveling behind Gillece’s car also crashed. The motorcycle driver, 25-year-old Cameron Stewart, of Westmoreland, also was hospitalized.
