WOODSTOCK TWP, MI : A two-vehicle crash on Saturday, August 5, 2017

An Ypsilanti man died Saturday at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 127 and U.S. 223 in Woodstock Township.

Cornellius Byrd, 75, was killed after the car he was driving north on U.S. 127 at 6 p.m. turned into the path of a southbound 2017 tractor-trailer, according to a news release issued Sunday by the Monroe post of the Michigan State Police. The name of the truck driver was not released Sunday.

Troopers dispatched to the scene reported the truck struck the driver’s side of Byrd’s vehicle. The driver of the truck was treated at the scene by Addison Fire Department and Lenawee Community Ambulance rescue personnel and released.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as factors in the crash, according to a news release.

The crash remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police. Anyone with additional information should call Trooper Robert Dellapelle at 734-242-3500.

Troopers also were assisted at the scene by the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office.
