Kissimmee, FL : Pedestrian killed in crash with car on U.S. 192 in Osceola County on Wednesday, December 16, 2015
The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a car who fatally struck a pedestrian in Osceola County, drove off and dumped the vehicle about half of a mile away.
Benjamin Hayams, 57, of Kissimmee was killed near the intersection of U.S. 192 and Seven Dwarfs Lane about 11:16 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Sgt. Kim Montes.
A 2013 Nissan Altima heading west on U.S. 192 hit Hayams.
Investigators are trying to determine if Hayams was walking in the road or crossing the highway.
The driver of the Altima fled the scene and dumped the damaged car about half of a mile away, Montes said.
The vehicle was reported stolen after the crash.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
