Ellwood City, PA : Two taken to Ellwood City Hospital after accident on August 29, 2016
Ellwood City, Pennsylvania
Two people were treated at Ellwood City Hospital and released Aug. 25 after a four-vehicle accident in Wayne Township. State police said the accident took place just after 4 p.m. Aug. 25 along Portersville Road (Route 488) in the Burnstown neighborhood of Wayne Township, when Stevilynn Gwin, 27, of New Castle, was traveling east and did not realize that traffic in front of her had stopped.
Gwin struck the rear end of a vehicle driven by Krista Boydell, 28, of Ellwood City, and pushed Boydell's vehicle into a car driven by Ralph Pounds, 76, of Wayne Township. The force of that impact pushed Pounds' vehicle into a van driven by Jana Barnes, 42, of Ellwood City.
There were four passengers -- girls ages 9, 11 and 12 -- in Barnes' van. Barnes and one of the 9-year-old girls were transported to Ellwood City Hospital for treatment of what police called minor injuries. Police said Gwin might have been injured, but Ellwood City Hospital personnel had no record of her treatment.
