Dover, DE : Amherst Street man charged with DWI after one-car crash on Friday, October, 7th 2017

Northwest District police arrested an Amherst Street man after he crashed his 2017 Audi into a light pole on Hallam Road Friday.

Jeffrey Silvashy, 61, was charged with driving while intoxicated after the 4:23 p.m. crash about a block from his home, just north of Delaware Park.

Silvashy was found sitting behind the wheel with the car keys in his hand. Police said he failed field sobriety tests, and a breath test showed a blood alcohol reading of .20 percent, more than twice the legal standard for intoxication.
