Winchester, OH : Adams County man died in a crash on Ohio 136 in Wayne Township on Monday, Oct 12, 2015

An Adams County man was killed in a late afternoon accident Monday.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol Georgetown Post, at about 5:25 p.m., Michael Copas, 65, of Stout, Ohio was driving a 1994 International 4900 farm truck on Ohio 136 in Wayne Township.

According to the preliminary investigation, as Copas was traveling northbound on Ohio 136 he drove off the right side of the roadway, over corrected and slid off the right side of the road, overturning the truck onto its top.

Copas was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be removed by Wayne Township Fire Department and West Union Fire Department with mechanical rescue tools.

Copas was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Adams County Coroner's office.

Copas was not wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol and/or drugs is not believed to be a factor at this time, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the OSHP.
