t least three people were injured in two accidents more than two hours apart Wednesday on Route 100 in Lowhill Township, according to police radio reports.
Two people were injured in a three-car crash near the Beechwood Street intersection in the south end of the township. In the later accident, a woman was knocked unconscious at Hollenbach Road in Lowhill’s north end.
The first accident, at 3:55 p.m., was at Route 100 and Beechwood, just northwest of Upper Macungie Park. Two people were taken by ambulance to a hospital.
Tanya A. Hausman, 31, of Kutztown was driving south on Route 100 when she rear-ended a car driven by Cindy B. Lemanek, 64, of Orefield, who was slowing down to turn left to Beechwood Street, state police at Fogelsville said.
The crash pushed Lemanek’s car into the path of an oncoming car driven by Valentina McCrory, 37, of Allentown, and their two cars collided, Trooper Christian Bleiler said.
Lemanek and McCrory were taken by Cetronia Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of what police said appeared to be minor injuries.
Hausman was charged with driving at an unsafe speed, police said.
Fogelsville fire police restricted Route 100 traffic to one lane, alternating north and south, for a half-hour while the first crash scene was cleaned up.
The 6:40 p.m. crash at Route 100 and Hollenbach Road also involved three vehicles. An injured woman was taken to a hospital, but information on her condition was not available. State police were investigating.
The second accident scene was reopened fully in about an hour.
