Bellevue, OH : 22-year old Clyde man in critical condition after a one vehicle rollover crash Wednesday morning, August 17, 2016
A Clyde man is at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo after a one vehicle rollover crash Wednesday morning.
Tyler Friend, 22, at 1:50 a.m. was partially ejected from the 2004 Monte Carlo he was driving eastbound on Ohio 20 near Township Road 296 when he went off the right side of the road, overturned and struck a utility pole. Friend was trapped under the vehicle, said the Ohio State Hghway Patrol.
“A passerby continued to talk to him,” said Sgt. Jordan Schwochow, of the Fremont post of the Ohio State Patrol.
He was transported by medical helicopter from the scene to Toledo.
Friend was not wearing his seatbelt. Alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to a statement from the Patrol.
The trooper on the scene smelled the alcohol and a witness stated that Friend told him he was drinking. Friend, however, refused to test at the scene, Schwohow said.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, he said..
